What is Oxford International Curriculum?

Oxford University has developed an educational program that provides a comprehensive framework for learning for children from kindergarten to secondary school levels. The Oxford International Curriculum (OIC) is designed to provide students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for academic success and personal growth.

It integrates:

  • curriculum material,
  • continuous professional development,
  • assessment and
  • world-class resources

It develops the critical and creative thinking skills for success in further study, including in Oxford AQAs, International GCSEs, AS and A-level exams.

What are the Subjects covered?

The Oxford International Curriculum is structured around key subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. It also includes a range of other subjects, such as physical education, art, music, and languages. The OIC has a strong focus on wellbeing and an enquiry-based approach to help students develop a wide range of skills.

Why Should I Opt for it?

The Oxford International Curriculum is designed to be flexible, allowing schools and teachers to adapt it to meet the specific needs of their students and communities. It is also aligned with international standards, including the Common Core State Standards in the United States and the UK National Curriculum.

What is the Pedagogy?

Oxford’s core teaching is based around conversations, normally between two or three students and their tutor, who is an expert on that topic. It gives students a chance to talk in-depth about the subject and to receive individual feedback on their work.

Does OIC include Early Years/Pre Primary?

Yes, the Oxford International Curriculum offers a full Early Years Curriculum, including learning frameworks, and teaching materials and training for Early Years teachers.

How Do the Assessments Take Place?

A combination of assessment tools like formative assessments, summative assessments, and standardized tests are used. There are end-of-year tests for Years 6, 7, 8 and 9.

What are the Options for Checkpoints Exams?

The Checkpoint exams are typically offered by Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) and are designed to assess students’ knowledge and skills in specific subjects at the end of a stage of education.

Checkpoint exams may be offered at the end of Grade 6 and Grade 8 in schools following the Oxford International Curriculum. The exams are externally marked and provide schools with an objective measure of student achievement and progress.

Who will Issue the Mark Sheets?

The mark sheets are issued by Oxford

How is it Aligned with STEAM?

Oxford curriculum is aligned with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) education by integrating more hands-on & interdisciplinary learning experiences. Every student has more project based learning opportunities to apply the concepts they learn into real life applications.
